Author, The 7 Pillars of Financial Health

Rob Macdonald

Rob is the Head of Strategic Advisory Services at Fundhouse. In this role he consults and coaches both individuals and teams in financial planning and investment management businesses. Over the past 25 years, Rob has held several senior executive positions in the investment industry and has also worked as an independent coach and consultant focusing on strategic and organizational development issues. Rob is co-organiser of the annual Humans Under Management South Africa conference which focuses on the human side of financial advice, and he is Editorial Adviser to Blue Chip journal, the official publication of the Financial Planning Institute in South Africa. In 2023 Rob was recognised by the Financial Planning Institute with the Harry Brews Award for his outstanding contribution to the financial planning profession.

Before joining the financial services industry Rob taught at the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town, where he was also Director of the MBA Programme. He has a MPhil in Management Studies from Oxford University, is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) Professional and a qualified coach and counsellor. Rob has written and spoken widely on a range of topics related to leadership, coaching, behavioural finance, investments, practice management and financial planning. He has co-authored two books: Rethinking Leadership; and Frontiers in Financial Psychology; and is author of the book: The 7 Pillars of Financial Health – Partnering with a Professional to Thrive.
